For anyone who deals with English every day

English you don't get? Just ask.

Flylish explains English in your own language. Use it on work emails and documents, on signs and menus when you're out, and on web pages and ebooks when you want to learn. On your computer, select the text and ask. On your phone, take a photo or just ask out loud.

What you look up at work and in daily life can become English you know.

English help, right in the apps you work in

Outlook, Teams, PDFs, web pages. See English you don't get? Ask right there, without switching windows or copying and pasting.

  • Check your email before you send it

Select what you've written and Flylish fixes it, showing what it changed and why. Undo any change you don't want. Or switch the tone, for example more formal or friendlier.

Windows and phone. On Windows and Android, the fixed text goes straight back where you wrote it.
  • Don't get it? Select it.

Select anything you don't understand in an email, contract or report. You get it in your language, with what it means here and how it's usually used. On Windows and Mac, it works in PDFs and meeting apps too: take a screenshot and ask.

All versions. Screenshots: Windows and Mac.
  • Translate, and find the right words

Select a passage to read it in your language. Before a meeting, type what you want to say in your language (on your phone you can just say it) and get a few English versions, each with a note on when to use it.

Translation: all versions. How to say it: Windows and phone.

Inside the app, in Japanese: Flylish fixes your reply, explains each change, and lets you pick a tone, from errors only to more natural, more formal, friendlier or shorter.

English out and about? Snap it or ask.

If you live in an English-speaking country or travel to one, there's English on every sign, menu and supermarket label. Take a photo, or ask out loud in your own language.

  • Snap signs and menus

Parking signs, street signs, restaurant menus: take a photo to see what they mean. Still not sure? Keep asking in your language, like "Can I park here at the weekend?" or "Will I get fined if I stay longer?"

  • Read product labels

Snap a label to read best-before dates, ingredients and allergy warnings in your language. It even explains the difference between "best before" and "use by".

  • Ask how to say it

Before asking for directions, ordering food, seeing a doctor or calling your landlord, say what you need in your language and get English you can actually say. If the words won't come out, show them on your screen in large type.

  • Look things up in other apps

Select any English text in WhatsApp, Gmail or your browser and look it up without leaving the app.

All of this is in the phone app, on iPhone and Android.

Inside the app: a parking sign explained in Spanish, and a question asked in Portuguese, answered with English you can say or show in large type.

Want to learn? Keep what you look up

The English you come across at work and in daily life is the English you'll actually use. Turn on Learning mode and Flylish saves it and reminds you to review.

  • Read web pages

Select text as you read in your browser and save what you want to remember to your word list.

  • Read ebooks

Add English books to Flylish Reader and look things up and take notes as you go. On your phone, Reader can read the book aloud; press the button on your earphones to mark a part you missed.

EPUB, TXT and text-based PDF. Reading aloud: phone only.
  • Words and notes, in one place

Words are saved with the sentence and where you found them. Your phone and computer show the same list.

  • Review on your phone

What you're about to forget comes up first; what you know well comes later. At first you just need to recognise a word. Once it sticks, you'll recall it yourself, fill in blanks and pick it out by ear. A few minutes on the bus is enough.

    Phone app.

Not interested in learning? That's fine. In Everyday mode, Flylish is just a tool: what you look up doesn't go into your word list, and there are no review reminders. Switch any time, and nothing you've saved is lost. Everyday and Learning modes: Windows, browser extension and phone.

Inside the app, in Korean: a phrase saved from a book, and a review card. Rate how well you remembered it, and Flylish picks when you see it next.
